Gesamter Kurszeitraum:
Balfolk brings traditional dances to life in a modern way, accompanied by wonderfully diverse music that often has its roots in French folk music. Across Europe, a vibrant dance scene has emerged, where people spend days learning new dances at festivals and nights dancing to live music. Balfolk is all about the joy of dancing together, both in pairs and in groups, with circle and chain dances. During this course, you will get to know typical Balfolk dances such as the Mazurka, Schottische, Waltz, Bourrée, Cercle Circassien and Chapelloise. The steps are quick to learn, so you can start enjoying the dances right from the beginning. We will also explore aspects such as body awareness, improvisation, rhythm, posture and connection between dancers. As we regularly rotate partners, you will have the opportunity to dance with everyone and take turns leading and following. You do not need to bring a regular dance partner. We place great importance on allowing plenty of time for dancing and experimenting, while giving you as authentic an insight as possible into the diversity of the Balfolk community.
Notes:
Clean indoor shoes without heels are mandatory (dance shoes, sports shoes or ballet slippers are all suitable). Dancing in outdoor shoes is not permitted.
We regularly rotate partners during the course, as changing dance partners is a fundamental principle at most Balfolk events. Dancing with different people helps you learn both leading and following. And along the way, you will get to meet lots of lovely people!
You do not need a regular dance partner. You can register either individually or as a pair.
